I’m linking hands with some wonderful writers over at Five-Minute-Friday. Today’s prompt? Hidden.
Deuteronomy 29:29 is one of my favourite scriptures. It tells us that:
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”
I have read this verse at various stages in my walk with God and each time it provides me with nourishment, encouragement and joy. It strengthens me in my inner being to the extent that I am comforted and assured that He does, indeed, hold all things in His Hand. He is the only and final authority on all things.
To me, this says that God is Sovereign. There is no power greater than His and no one who can command or counsel Him. Because He, alone, knows ALL things – those hidden and those revealed. And if He knows all things then it must mean that He, who is all righteousness and justice, will bring all that is right and good to pass. No one can thwart His plans or bring to naught what He purposes for all mankind.
In this lies my encouragement and trust. In this I gather strength for the journey ahead.
